Organizational History

Our school was founded in 1969 by the great entrepreneurs Mr. Sun Famin and Ms. Chen Shujuan with the concept of building a strong country through education. The school was named "Private Longhua Industrial Technology College"; at that time, a common subject was established under the Academic Affairs Office. , responsible for teaching common courses throughout the school, such as Chinese, English, mathematics, modern history, and the thoughts of the Founding Fathers.

Twenty years later, in 1989, it was renamed "Private Longhua Industrial and Commercial College". Aiming at cultivating mid-level cadres in the industrial and commercial circles, and strengthening training in professional skills. Due to its outstanding performance in running the school, it was approved to be restructured into "Longhua Technical College" in 1998, with the mission of cultivating senior cadres and training professional engineers.

In September 2001, our school was upgraded to a university of science and technology, and its name was changed to "Longhua University of Science and Technology". The original common subjects were renamed as a general education center, responsible for the planning and implementation of general education courses throughout the school to cultivate moral ethics. The educational goal of our school is to develop outstanding talents with sound development of six aspects: intellectual, technical, physical, social and aesthetic education.

On December 7, 2004, the school's 9301th School Development Committee meeting discussed the future positioning and development of the School of Humanities. It was decided to enrich the General Education Center, recruit teachers from across the school, and add "Introduction to Management Science" and "Life Sciences" General courses such as "Introduction" and "Introduction to Natural Sciences" will be adjusted to 6 credits of optional compulsory foreign languages, providing the General Education Center with the opportunity to add general courses in natural subjects in the future to enrich students' general education connotation.

From December 5th to 6th, 2005, the school accepted the Ministry of Education’s commission from the Taiwan Evaluation Association to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of school affairs. The evaluation report believed that the school should closely adhere to the role of general education as the core education of the university, so as to facilitate the construction of general education. The subjectivity of general education is emphasized, and it is recommended to reform the general curriculum and further implement the existing plans.
